Mrs. Patience Jonathan
The All Progressives Congress has condoled with the Bayelsa State Government and the wife of the President, Dame Patience Jonathan, over the death of 11 of her women supporters in an auto accident on Saturday.
In a statement on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party expressed shock and sadness at the untimely death of the women, who were mothers, wives, sisters and daughters.
It prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and also give their bereaved families the strength to bear their losses.
“May God also provide the bereaved families with the succour and comfort they so much need in their moment of darkness,’’ APC said.
Also, Senate President, David Mark, on Monday, commiserated with President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife.
Mark in a statement in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh, lamented that the women died in their prime at a time when their productive hands were needed to solve the socio-economic and political problems facing the nation.
He said that the women died in active service to the nation and should be accorded such honour.
He, therefore, urged the first family, the government and people of Bayelsa State especially the bereaved family to accept the incident in good fate.
He said, “Death is a necessary end that must come when it shall”.
The Senate President urged the government of Bayelsa State to immortalise the deceased for their contributions to the development of the state.
