The Nigeria Immigration Service, Akwa Ibom State Command, has said it will repatriate all illegal immigrants from the state before 2015 general elections.

The state NIS Controller, Abdullahi Garba, told journalists in Uyo, on Thursday, that that 10 foreigners had returned 10 Permanent Voter Cards to the command and they had been handed over to the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state.

He revealed that the command had mapped out flashpoints within the 31 local government areas of the state for mop up exercise and subsequent repatriation of illegal immigrants before the forthcoming elections.

“We have mapped out flashpoints within the 31 local government areas of the state for mop up exercise and subsequent repatriation of irregular immigrants before the elections,” he said.

He said the state had been exposed to irregular immigrants owing to the nearness of the Gulf of Guinea which serves as the border between Nigeria and some African countries.

Garba stated that the command had instructed all divisional immigration officers in different villages to fish out all illegal immigrants so that they would not participate in the elections.

He said that in January 2015, the command deported one expatriate for breach of employment procedures (quota trafficking) and refused entry to three expatriates.

He revealed that the command had also earned a total of N13, 961,380 in January.
