Covenant University may reduce tuition soon –VC


The Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Prof. Charles Ayo, has hinted that the school may likely reduce its tuition fees in a bid to accommodate more students who will want to benefit from the quality education it offers.

Addressing a news conference on Friday over the school’s recent Webometrics ranking as the first in Nigeria and West Africa and the 15th in Africa, he said even though there is no actual date for the likely review yet, the initiative would make admission into the school more affordable and competitive.

NLC NEC meets Wednesday over leadership crisis


The Nigeria Labour Congress has scheduled a meeting of its National Executive Committee for February 18, 2015 as part of on-going efforts to resolve the electoral dispute in the labour centre.

The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, said in a statement on Friday that the Congress National Administrative Council met on Thursday and resolved to call a meeting of the NEC to deliberate on a new date for the disrupted elections of the congress in the early hours of Wednesday.

He said that the NLC was determined to cooperate with all the parties involved in the impasse to ensure that the election issue was resolved as quickly as possible to prevent the current elected officials from exceeding their stipulated tenure.

Buhari will ensure equipped military –Campaign team


The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation has said that Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will ensure better and equipped military.

The APC campaign said it welcomes the reassurance of the Nigerian armed forces to be faithfully committed to its professional roles rather than being exposed to undue partisanship.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APCPCO, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Friday.

It said the opposition party was pleased by the assurance by the Defence Spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Christopher Olukolade, that the armed forces would stick to their constitutional and professional roles of protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria rather than being diverted in this mission to partisanship.

EFCC arrests Nyako’s son for alleged corruption


Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested Abdul-Aziz Nyako, the son of impeached Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said in an electronic mail on Friday that Abdul-Aziz was picked up by EFCC operatives in Gombe.

Uwujaren said that the former Governor’s son was immediately flown to Abuja ‘where he is currently being grilled by a crack team of detectives who had been working on the Adamawa investigation for several months.’
