Female Police Office Mesmerize two Armed Robbers in Lagos


A female police officer, Mercy John, has reportedly disarmed two armed robbers who tried to rob her of her belongings. The officer attached to Provost Office, State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, was accosted by the robbers at about 6pm on Tuesday around Egbeda-Shasha area of Lagos and ordered to lie down.

According to a statement by DSP Ken Nwosu, Lagos PPRO: “Mercy John and one other person were accosted by two armed robbers on motor bike and ordered to lie down. The NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) refused to comply and also turned down the order to hand over her handbag.

Gallant Soldiers Finally Invade The Deadly Sambisa Forest


The military has commenced an operation in Sambisa Forest in Borno State to flush out the Boko Haram. The forest is widely believed to host some of the training camps and facilities of the deadly sect.

It was learnt that the military high command decided to invade the vast forest in order to make the North-West safe for the general elections.

A reliable source in the Army told PUNCH in Abuja that Air Force jets started the raid on Monday. He added that surveillance activities and raids were going on simultaneously against Boko Haram.

Paul Play slams Etisalat with N200m copyright infringement lawsuit


Singer Paul Play Dairo has filed a N200m lawsuit against telecommunications company, Etisalat for using his song, Mosorire in its popular reality series, Nigerian Idol, without seeking his consent. In the suit filed at a Lagos High court and marked FHC/CS/581/2014, Optima Media Group was made co-defendant. Paul stated that the defendants had used his hit song, Mosorire, which he composed himself, to promote their TV show, Nigerian Idol in 2012 and 2013.

PDP not buying PVCs, says Isiaka


The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Gboyega Isiaka, has warned the All Progressives Congress to desist from spreading rumours that the party was buying Permanent Voter Cards from the electorate.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had in a statement on Wednesday alleged that his party had proof that prospective voters had been offered money by the PDP in exchange for their PVCs.

Isiaka, in a statement by the Director General of his campaign organisation, Ifekayode Akinbode, said   that the allegation was “a grand design to prepare the minds of APC supporters for imminent defeat.”

Nigeria back to 42nd in FIFA ranking



Nigeria are back to being 42nd best in the FIFA ranking following the latest release by the world football governing body on Thursday.

The team slipped to 43rd in January in continuation of a downward movement which started last September following a poor showing in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

They had moved down four places to 37th in September before dipping five places further to 42nd in October.

The new ranking means Nigeria are now seventh in Africa behind Algeria (18th), Ivory Coast (20th), Ghana (25th), Tunisia (26th), Cape Verde (35th) and Senegal (36th). Guinea (43rd) are eighth in Africa after dropping four places, and Cameroon, which also dropped three places to 45th, are ninth in the CAF category.
