I’m Putting My Eyes on Security & the Presidency – Obasanjo


Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has said that he is now keeping his eyes on the military and those in the Presidency to see how they are going to contain Boko Haram insurgents in six weeks.

Speaking with Hausa service of the BBC in Germany, the former president rubbished the purported plan to form an Interim Government, which, according to him, violates the Nigerian constitution.

Soldiers Invade Vicinity of Tinubu's House in Lagos


For three straight days, the private residence of the national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, has been under surveillance by battle-ready and helmet-wearing soldiers. Numbering close to thirty and riding in three patrol vans and an army trucs stationed close to the entrance of the gate to Tinubu’s house along Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, they have become a permanent feature.

Nigerian Military reportedly begins operation in Sambisa forest


According to reports, the Nigerian military has commenced operations at Sambisa forest to reclaim it from Boko Haram. According to Punch, the military action started on Monday Feb. 9th with Nigerian Air Force pilots carrying out airstrikes on the dreaded forest. A source who spoke to Punch said;

"The military has started the operation in the Sambisa Forest; the operation started on Monday. For now there is no specific cases of arrest, we don’t have that information now. The Air Force has been operating in the area since Monday. It is after that that the ground troops who are on red alert would move in."

Why is President Jonathan using Boko Haram for Politics?


At the headquarters of the revival service of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement in Ijesha, Lagos this Saturday, President Goodluck Jonathan attempted to scare Pastor Lazarus Muoka by telling him that Boko Haram, the north Nigeria terrorizing group had planned to come down south, had it not been checked by his administration.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Jonathan said, “The idea of the group was to start from the centre of the country and then move to bring the whole country down.”

When I read this, I, like many others, did not know whether to laugh or cry.
