It’s hard for a Nigerian to win Grammy –D One

The duo of Kenny ‘Keke’ Ogungbe and Dayo ‘D One’ Adeneye finally proved wrong their detractors who go about town with the rumour that the gentlemen always stay outside during the event.

For so many years, the guys have been among the very few Nigerians who have been able to grace the event. This year, they did it again and actually were on the red carpet.

Speaking to Saturday Beats about the award, D One said even though the award has become so popular, it is meant for the Americans alone.

I miss pounded yam –Oyelowo

David Oyelowo is a Nigerian-born British actor who recently played Martin Luther King, Jr. in the biographical drama film, Selma, for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actor (Drama).

The multiple award winning actor recently visited Nigeria for the screening of his recent movie, Selma, and the event was put together by The Rock Cathedral and the American Embassy. In a chat with Saturday Beats, Oyelowo said that what he missed most about Nigeria is the food, most especially pounded yam.

He said, “I miss pounded yam desperately. It is very tough to get that in Los Angeles. I really love Nigerian food because it is what I grew up eating. Unfortunately Los Angeles is not the best place to get Nigerian food.”

Awkward moment with Seyi Asekun

I cannot forget the day I went for Best of Nollywood award. I took only a dress for the event and while I was wearing it, it got torn around my buttocks area. There was no way we could salvage it. Since I did not have a spare dress, I wore it to the event that way. When I was announced as winner of a category, excitedly I jumped up and went to receive my award.

Some ladies weren’t happy I got married –OC Ukeje

                                                                 OC Ukeje

He used to be one of the hottest eligible bachelors in town but it seems OC Ukeje broke the hearts of many when he married his girlfriend few months ago.

In fact, the award-winning actor told Saturday Beats that he got hate messages from many female fans when he got married.

“I got so many hate messages from female fans. We get messages like that every day but you do not know who is serious and who is joking. I just take all of them at face value and move on because at the end of the day, they are just fans.”

Seyi Hunter’s typical day

Most times, I stay indoors and I just relax and watch movies. I love watching home movies a lot. Sometimes, I would just go to the cinema to watch a movie. Then, there are times I just lounge with friends. During the week, I go to the beach alone. I hate going to the beach on a weekend, it is usually crowded, except I am going for a beach party.
