Gunshots hit California mosque


Coachella - No one was hurt when gunfire struck a mosque in the desert city of Coachella before dawn Tuesday, authorities in Southern California said.

A report of shots fired was received at 05:01, and responding officers determined that several shots struck the Islamic Society of the Coachella Valley building and a vehicle, the Sheriff's Department said. The building was occupied, but nobody was injured.

The shooting in the city about 40km southeast of Palm Springs was being investigated as a possible hate crime, a Sheriff's Department statement said.

Fashola blasts TAN, says Jonathan not Transforming Anything


Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola has lampooned the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) for orchestrating the return of President Goodluck Jonathan administration through false claims saying, “This government is unwilling; it has nothing to offer Nigerians.”

Despite the series of adverts powered by TAN to convince Nigerians, Fashola, who spoke as a keynote speaker at the opening ceremony of Women In Business (Wimbiz) Conference held at the Eko Hotels in Victoria Island, said he remained convinced that the country under the leadership of PDP was not transforming the country as portrayed by the group.

Borno Dep. Governor says Boko Haram may capture entire 3 North East states in weeks


The Deputy Governor of Borno state, Zanna Mustapha, while visiting thousands displaced indigenes in Yola yesterday Monday November 3rd, said that with the easy way Boko Haram has been capturing territories in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, the three states would soon be history.

“If the Federal Government does not add extra effort, in the next two to three months, the three North-Eastern states will no longer be in existence. The Federal Government has tried its best but their best is not enough because rather than going after the insurgents, it is the insurgents that are going after us. It is a big crime that the criminals are better equipped than the military and they are just few kilometres from the Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states capitals.”

Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal, has accused his Deputy, Emeka Ihedioha; the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke; PDP and its National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, of being behind the plot to remove him from office unconstitutionally.

Tambuwal, who defected from PDP to APC last week, made the allegation in an affidavit supporting an ex parte application he filed along with the APC at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday.

After hearing the application, presiding Justice Ahmed Mohammed directed all the parties in the suit to maintain the status quo till Friday.

Court Rules that Tambuwal remains Reps Speaker


A federal high court sitting in the federal capital territory, Abuja, on Monday ruled that Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal is and remains the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hence the status quo with regards to his official position as Number 4 citizen should be maintained by all parties.
