Rivers State to Sanction Schools for Re-opening Before October 6th
The Rivers Government said on Monday that any school that reopened before October 6th would be sanctioned.
Michael West, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the government decided to re-open schools on October 6th to ensure that measures were put in place against the spread of Ebola Virus Disease.
Police Defuse 2 Explosive Devices at University of Uyo
The police command in Akwa Ibom said it had defused two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) found in the male hostel of University of Uyo (UNIUYO).
Confirming the incident in Uyo on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Etim Dickson, told newsmen that the explosives were home-made.
More Boko Haram Insurgents Surrender in Borno
Ten additional Boko Haram terrorists surrendered to troops at Kawuri in Borno on Sunday, security update posted on Defence Headquarters’ (DHQ) website said on Monday.
It said that the terrorists, who voluntarily gave up, had been taken into custody for necessary security debriefing.
