Ebola: 340 Cases Under Surveillance in Rivers State


The Rivers Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker, on Wednesday said there were 340 Ebola Virus disease (EVD) cases under surveillance in the state.

Parker made the remark in Port Harcourt during a sensitization workshop at Ogu, in Ogu/Bolo local government area.

He said the state government was not in a hurry to reopen primary and secondary schools because of the situation.

Immigration Arrests Suspected Human Traffic Kingpin in Enugu


Enugu (NAN) – The Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu State Command, says it has nabbed one Koffi Hassan, a Sierra Leonean, who specializes in trafficking women out of Nigeria for prostitution.

The Immigration Comptroller, Bashir Ismail, disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with NAN in Enugu.

He said that Hassan, an alleged human traffic kingpin, who had been on their wanted list, was arrested following a tip-off.

Ebola: Liberia sacks absentee ministers


Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sacked 10 government officials who have been “out of the country with­out an excuse,” amid a national Ebola crisis.

She said the officials had shown “insensitiv­ity to our national tragedy and disregard for author­ity”. The 10 were given a one-week ultimatum more than a month ago to return home. Sierra Leone, Li­beria and Guinea are the worst-hit countries in an outbreak that has killed more than 2,400.
